Wandering in Port Elizabeth

After a long day of Travel from Semonkong to Bloemfontein to Port Elizabeth I get off my ADO night bus and catch an uber to my hostel, Lungile Hostel, a cool place just a 5 minute walk from the beaches of Port Elizabeth.  It’s long before check in time so I decide to take a coastal walk to explore this SouthAfrican beach city, where it’s not too hot this time of year and perfect for walking around.  And okay, I may e utterly exhausted and needing a proper sleep, but Port Elizabeth is beautiful, and like most of South Africa, is full of good restaurants.

I continue along the board walk alongside one of the main roads of Port Elizabeth just enjoying the ocean breeze and even dipping my feet in the frosty indian ocean once or twice.  Snapping photos where I go and looking for a place to eat but being pretty picky.

Eventually I stop in at Angelo’s and enjoy a delicious burger with an even better view of the sea.  As I eat my meal I watch a young child play in the ocean and think of my times in Nova Scotia growing up, and i start missing home just a little bit.

After lunch I head back to my hostel and check in, falling asleep almost immediately.  That evening I book a trip into Addo Elephant park just outside port Elizabeth for the next day.  It will be my last safari on this trip which is beyond sad. Then I head back to the beach and start the process of buying souvenirs.  This is something still pretty new to me, as I have a home now, for the first time in a long time, and designs on eventually opening a hostel, so I want lots of decorations from my trip to Africa and buying from the various salesmen on the street who are all from different parts of Africa is tons of fun.  Haggling and joking and spreading out my purchases I make lots of friends, and get some great deals on stuff which now adorns the walls of my new house in brazil.  Next entry will cover the safari and your last glimpse of African Animals here.
